Creditor’s Rights, Real Estate and Business Litigation

The Firm's litigation practice emphasizes representation of secured creditors in state and federal court actions relating to real estate issues, including foreclosures, receiverships, and bankruptcies. The Firm's attorneys have handled sophisticated litigation for financial institutions, contractors, real estate developers, and other businesses and individuals, including lender liability litigation, construction litigation, and a broad array of general business litigation matters.

Real Estate Transactions

The Firm’s transactional practice includes loan portfolio management and servicing, specifically including loan workouts, forbearances, discounted payoffs, deeds in lieu and foreclosed real estate management and disposition, in connection with residential and commercial real estate loans.


Douglas G. Tennant - Mr. Tennant obtained his B.A. degree from Yale University in 1978 and his J.D. from Columbia University School of Law in 1982. He appears regularly in the state and federal courts with respect to general business and bankruptcy litigation, with emphasis on real estate, creditor’s rights and banking litigation, specifically including representation of financial institutions and other secured creditors in receiverships, judicial foreclosures and bankruptcy matters. Mr. Tennant has practiced in major private law firms (Kelly, Hart & Hallman, P.C. - Fort Worth, Texas and Kelley Drye & Warren - New York, New York and Los Angeles, California), and financial institutions including American Savings Bank, F.A., American Real Estate Group, Inc., and New West Federal Savings and Loan Association. Mr. Tennant is admitted to practice in New York (1983), California (1985), the District of Columbia (1989), and Texas (1993).
